The 2014 50th Anniversary Edition 911 was built by Porsche in honor of the 50th anniversary of the 911, which was first produced in 1964. To pay tribute to the 911's debut at the 1963 Frankfurt Motor Show, production was limited to 1,963 units. This special edition is based on the Carrera S, with some styling modifications and optional extras.
As with many other special 911 models, the differences from the standard model are subtle. The 50th Anniversary Edition uses the wider body of the Carrera 4S (but only has rear-wheel drive) and is 10 mm lower than a standard Carrera. This not only makes it look more powerful, it also has a wider track width and modified suspension. The 20-inch rims are a modern version of the original Fuchs rims, and the seats are upholstered in "Pepita" fabric. These details give the Anniversary Edition a conservative retro look.
The most noticeable upgrades are the 20-inch alloy wheels inspired by the Fuchs rims, the darker framing of the headlights and the chrome accents on the hood. The color Geyser Grey, shown here, is specific to the 50th Anniversary Edition, but darker shades of gray and the standard Carrera S color Basalt Black are also available. The interior features fabric seat covers and a plaque on the dashboard, setting this limited-edition model apart from the rest of the lineup.
