A beautiful and fully restored Riva Florida 354 speedboat! Some 1137 examples of the Riva Florida were built between 1952 and 1969. The boat is named after the American state that was most associated with water skiing. The Florida has a cockpit and behind it a large sundeck. These were separated by a mahogany bridge.
The Riva in question was purchased new in France and is currently owned by the third owner. When the current owner took over the boat in 2011, he started with the complete restoration of a total of no less than 3000 hours as far as mainly manual work was concerned. The special thing is that this Riva has not been in the water after the restoration.
The outside of the Riva has been completely 'sanded back' by hand down to the wood. Then it is, again by hand, provided with fifteen (!) layers of clear lacquer.
Then it was sanded back and the last six layers were put in the cabin, three layers of which is a protection for the clear coat and three layers a finish layer for the sun.
The inside completely stripped of its paint by hand and put in the gray lacquer, also here is that original Riva paint. This was a job of about 1600 hours!
The beautiful chrome work has been specially done abroad in an authentic way. Here it is polished, copper-plated and then dipped in a chrome bath. This Florida is equipped with its original Chrysler V8 petrol engine and, like the gearbox, has been completely overhauled.A nice detail is that the tarpaulin is the original tarpaulin. In order to preserve the authentic character, nothing has been done about it by the owner.
