Signs of wear/damage and wear and tear all around according to age/mileage.
The Jaguar MK8 was imported from Arizona, United States, in 2010 by its current owner. Since then, several improvements and repairs have been made. Here is an overview of the work;
- Windshield replacement. The original windscreen of the XK8, without a bar, has been deliberately replaced by a windscreen with a central bar, in order to approximate the original design of the MK7.
- Installation of a stainless steel exhaust.
- Renewal of brakes and brake hoses.
- Installation of a new brake booster.
- Overhaul of the wheelhouse.
- Replacement of the complete front suspension.
- Reupholstery of the seats with leather.
- Replacement of the door seals.
- Renewal of the floor covering.
- Repair of both fuel tanks and installation of modern Lukas petrol pumps.
- Despite the considerable mileage, the engine functions quite well.
- The Borg and Warner automatic gearbox still shifts smoothly.
- The car has not had a serious collision and the bodywork is virtually free of rust.
- Although the paint is no longer in optimal condition, it is still acceptable.
- Both tool sets in the doors are 95 percent complete.
The MK8 is currently on new radial tyres, but these are not ideal for this car. Diagonal tires are actually more suitable because they make steering easier, especially since this car does not have power steering. Diagonal tires were widely used without power steering at the time, such as in the production of this car in 1958. The difference in steering behaviour is due to the fact that bias tyres have a smaller contact patch with the road surface.
