This UK-built Ford Escort MKI 2-door is an original Left Hand Drive car that was restored and painted in the Allan Mann colours in Sweden many years ago.
In recent years, the car has been used in several classic events, where it performed excellently with the original 1300GT engine. During the corona period, the engine was replaced by a much faster, prepared 1600 cc engine with a special camshaft. The car has hardly been used and stored since that engine change. The original 1300GT engine, which was also well prepared, is still in stock and available at an additional cost. If the new owner wants to replace the engine with the original one, this can be agreed upon in consultation.
With this Escort, Erwin Docter (Dutch Rally Champion in the 80s) and the owner used the car twice during the famous Winter Trials of 2017 and 2018, both of which were successfully completed. During the first Winter Trial, there was damage to the front and rear, which was repaired at the time. After the engine was replaced in 2020, the seats were reverted back to the normal version and the car has been stored ever since. The car may need some upgrades and there are some rust spots, but it is generally thought that this is a nice MKI, 51 years old, and that with some minor work the car can offer a lot of fun.
